Default Headers and cat-back

I have decide to do the full exhaust and take my chances with the warranty. My question is the size of header primaries and exhaust pipes. Should I use 1 7/8 or 1 3/4 headers and do I go with 2 1/2 or 3" cat-back. I am really leaning towards American Racing LT's and Borla cat-back. I welcome all suggestions from every one. Ya'll are the best.

Your profile is blank. Fill it out to get better answers.

The difference between 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 LTs isn't worth talking about, unless you're making ungodly amounts of power. Sam (PowerLabs) proved this some time ago. Catbacks don't make power, unless you consider 2-6 rwhp "power". They are good for sound, not power. I'd save the catback money for something that will actually make power.

The only way to gain power behind the headers is a offroad x-pipe at maybe 4hp. Been there and back to high flow cats so it's not worth it.

If you are not planning on doing serious HP mods, I would use 1 3/4 headers. Otherwise, 1 7/8 headers.

I would not get the Borla cat back.

I would get the entire exhaust in 3" and then I would pick up a set of OEM mufflers off a Z06. That way, the Z06 mufflers bolt right up, you have the ability to control the system with an NPP in a Box and you have it all - a larger exhaust for future mods, all in 3" so no need to cut up the Z06 mufflers and make them work with your 2.5 " exhaust, and the ability to open it when you want it loud and close it for silence.

His suggestion, instead of Borla, is to put Z06 mufflers on.
