Default Headers Question

Before I buy a set for the 07 LS2 (A6)....

Whats the difference/purpose between 1 7/8 and 1 3/4 applications? I even saw a set with 2" primaries.

Do I want coated or not coated?
(I heard coated will keep heat in the heads, true? Uncoated will raise underhood temps, true?) Which is the lesser of two evils?

I do want 'em catted.

Thanks

In order to offer assistance/opinion would be helpful to know what your goals are.

If you oversize the primaries you will loose power from incorrect scavenging through the bottom end and midrange. It may flow more on top end but will cost you more overall. I would go for the correct size for the exhaust port you have now unless you are going to use forced induction down the line.

Both sizes will work great. If you ever plan to upgrade to bigger cubes in the future, I would choose the 1 7/8" primary. Most all of the Headers we use are 304 stainless and we don't coat them because it's really not necessary. Underhood temperature has never been an issue.

Mine are made of 304 stainless as well with 1-3/4" primaries. I never have problems with unhood temps.

I would go with 1-3/4" headers if i were you. If you're going to be digging into the engine or adding a power adder then go bigger.
