Guys, I just bought a modded 2008 M6 1LT. The car had a complete aftermarket system. The seller also included all the original parts, door speakers, factory amp and head unit.
I reinstalled all the factory equipment (cd player, amp and door speakers) and now when the radio is on, there is an obvious "thump, thump, thump, thump....." sound that goes with the volume. If the volume goes up, the thumping is louder..
Now with a CD, there is no noise. With XM (the one advertising chanel) there is no noise.
It must be isolated to the physical antenna..?
Anybody else have any issues? I will remove the radio again to double check everything but it never hurts to ask.
whats odd is it only makes the noise when using the radio, were any wires spliced that you saw when putting the oem stereo back in.
any difference with car on vs off
Oh yea. about 60% of the wires were spliced. I had to trace each and every wire back to the original color one by one. It does it when it's on and off.
I unpluged one single black wire/white clip going from the 2 modules in the rear hatch area. The ground noise is gone. Plug it back in, ground noise back. Anyone have any idea what this wire is? My FM signal is fine when unplugged..?
This is the larger module on the driver side of the hatch. It has one black wire connecting it to the smaller black module (below).
Large module (dr side)
Small module with the same black wire connecting the 2 modules. Any idea what the wire is??
