As long as they did it right following the service manual procedure. i.e. marking the position of the balancing weights and transferring weights over to the new balancer and installing in the exact same position. Cranked on to the correct crank snout depth, torque'd properly.... I'd be perfectly OK with it. If some grease monkey threw it on with an impact gun, I'd pass. Especially if the engine feels a bit rough. Try revving it at a few different rpms like 2K 3.5K 5K, it should feel smooth at all of those. If it runs smooth (idle often has a normal little shake) and the belt lines up perfect with the other pulleys, should be fine.
Can someone explain to me what a Crankshaft Balancer Replacement entails?
Would you feel comfortable buying a car that has had this replaced?
If it's an '05 with VIN before 110039, it better have been dealer replaced!
I just had mine done this summer with the extended warranty.
Otherwise more than a 2% chance of failure, and still a possibility after many years and miles.
