I need to replace the axle seals in the differential soon.
It kinda looks like you can just drop the swaybar, then unbolt the upper control arm and shock and swing the whole lower assembly out. Will that be enough movement to allow the axle to come out of the differential?
If it's that simple I've got no problem, but if it's more involved can anyone offer any shortcuts or other easy way to remove the axles.
You have enough room. Just unbolt the caliper, the two 13mm bolts for the top of the shock, and the upper control arm bolts. Then the axle can be popped right out of the diff.
Becareful when pulling the axle that you dont pull the output shaft out as well. If the output shaft even slides out a little bit, you'll have to pull the whole ring gear assembly to put the C Clip back on...
Thanks for the confirmation and heads up warning guys.
I think I damaged the seals with a pry bar when dropping the cradle for the converter swap two weeks ago. I'll check that when the seals are out and offer that warning if that's what happened.
I love this forum for all the info sharing. Thanks again.
