Default Rim width question

I am considering doing the rim widening on a pair of 18's for my C6. My plan is to either go with Nitto NT05 295/35/18 or NT555RII 305/30/18. I went to Nitto's website and I believe a 10.5 in rim will accomodate both tire sizes.

My question is, will a 10.5 in rim fit in the back of a C6 without any modifications? I know the stock 19 in rim is 10 in; not sure if that extra half inch along with the tire will create any issues with rubbing.

Also, if anyone has the NT555RII setup and has been caught in the rain, how did they perform?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Both 18" tire sizes you mention are to small in diameter. In order for A/H to work correctly you have to maintain the Front to Rear size difference. The closest 18" would be a 305/35/18 and even that is a little short. Stock rears are 26.85" diameter.

Try the sizes; http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

You'll also have to look at the offset of the 18" wheel, changing from stock offsets can cause problems. Try;

The typical 18x10.5" wheel that I've seen is 58mm offset. This wheel sticks out (to the face) 3.47" vs. the OEM 19x10" wheel that is out 2.39" -- so it will stick out 1" more. Measure and see if that's ok with you. There are no clearance issues to the inside with this size wheel. A lot will depend on how low your car sits.

A better way (that will cost more of course) is to start with an front 18x8.5" wheel and widen it. This wheel starts with a 56mm offset and sticks out 2.55". There is room to the inside to add a full 2.0". If you want the wheel out a little farther you can start with a 9.5" wheel (w/54mm offset) and add 1.5-2.0" to the inside and it will fit.

I'm running a 17x11.5" rim on the rear of my C6 that was widened in this way starting with a 17x9.5" wheel to fit 335x35x17 Kumho 710s.
