Looking for anyone Near Raleigh who has spring compressor who could help me change 16 springs on my LS6. Busted one the other day and seems simple enough to do especially if you have done it before and have all the tools. I have a heated garage or could trailer the car to your place... Willing to pay for help in cash or liquid refreshments :-) Got kind an offer from Atlanta but may be a bit far to trailer down there.
Sorry, I'm too far away. But you can make or buy a tool for a spring compressor, it's called the "Tim's Tool" (also known as the Larry tool) and you can look it up on LS1Tech.com. It's pretty simple and works great. I just used the top dead center method to hold the valves up and used the Larry tool to compress the springs.

How did you turn the motor over? Using the crank bolt?
Yes, I used the crank bolt to turn the engine over and since it was a manual (it was my 01 Z28), I put it in 6th gear to keep the engine from turning over. If you have an automatic, I'm not sure how to hold it other than at the flexplate.
