I went with 390's with the base transmission. Worked out great
still plenty high for highway with the .050 6th gear.
But also just right for my needs even with F/I. If your a Z-51
your already lower in the transmission. Some guys love the 410's.

Yes.
Even in an otherwise stock manual C6, gears (3.90s or 4.10s) are awesome but in a cammed car such as yours they should almost be a mandatory mod.

I went with 3.90's with the base transmission. In hindsight since I do very little highway and remain in town, the 4.10's probably would have been a better choice. But, Im here to tell you I felt the difference between stock 3.42's and the 3.90's. You didnt say anything about if yours is an auto, mn6, or Z-51. There are a ton of threads here about gears, do a search. Spinmonster has some excellent posts regarding gears and the 1/4 mile times.

I like mine. I don't drag race because it is a Vert. 6th gear is a good highway gear now.

is your car a z51 car? IMO doing gears in a z51 car really shortens 1-3 way to much,
the top mph in 1-3 on a Z51 car is almost the same as a base coupe with 3.90s..

A lot will depend on traction (use of drag radials/slicks) and driver's skill but typically the switch from 3.42s to 4.10s can result in a .2 to .4 reduction in ET with notable gains in trap speed as well.

I gained ~.3 and 0mph in the 1/4 w/ the addition of 4.10s which required an extra shift...I had the mn6 and could run 3rd out to the traps w/ 3.42s, now it's right at the top of 4th...if you're already hitting 4th, then you'll likely gain .4 and 2mph b/c you won't be adding a shift...ie I gained all the ET in the 1/8 and ~2mph because before I was just getting into 3rd and after the gears was at the top of 3rd...They make it easier to launch and will really help your 60'!
