Default 2007 Vs 2008 Performance Difference ?

I have been looking at used C6's, especially in the time span of 2006 thru 2008. I know the 2008's got a bump up in horsepower...36HP...if I remember right. I just wondered if any people have driven both stock 2006's or 07's....and also have driven a 2008. My question is....do you notice the difference in power,on the track...and/or just seat of the pants street driving? thanks

Jeff

I was looking at 05-06's when I was preparing to buy. Wanted an '06 Z, but got a better deal on an '08 A6.
If I couldn't have the 427, I at least wanted the newer motor and better heads.

'08 is the first year of the LS3, which is why it got a bump.

Depends on what you plan on using your car for though. In most cases, I'd still prefer the LS3 over the -2 or -6. Only reason I'd choose either of those would simply be for aftermarket availability...which is slowly but surely changing as the LS3 becomes more common.

The LS3 is the way to go. you get L92 heads verse older 243 castings on an LS2. I drove both when I was looking to buy and if you drive both you'll know why. I opted for the manual over the automatic and would suggest a Z51 equipped car. Just my .02

I had an 05, 07, and now an 08. The LS3 is a much better engine in just about every aspect. You can feel the difference and if you are an
A6 guy you can also get the performance axle ratio in the 08 going from 256 to 273 ratio. That's what I did but ended up putting one of Chuck COWs A6 342 attack packages in it, now it's just an animla in comparison. Youcan get really good deals on an 08 right now so I'd go with the LS3 if you can swing it. Good luck whatever you do.

I doubt you can feel the diff seat of pants, I couldn't. Never the less it is there. I would call it .3 in the 1/4.

With the Z06 I could feel the diff. seat of pants, but most of that diff was lost to wheelspin below 60mph. Above 60mph the extra power was obvious.

Even though I found an 07 at a really good price, I ordered an 08. There was a very noticeable difference in performance. Plus I liked the improvements to the 08 interior, optional gear ratio, etc.
