Engine Knock
I have a 2005 that has 23k on it, I'm noticing a knock on cold start that quites as it warms up but doesn't leave. did the old stick on the block trick and it seems the the noise is louder when it's on the water pump. Anyone had a similar problem?

I have an 05 and have not had the problem. An engine stereoscope is better but the stick will work. If you think it's the water pump you can disconnect the belt and start it up for a minuet and see if it stops. That will get you closer to the problem.

I have an '05 z51 with a little less than 19k on it and it's making the same noise that you described above. When the engine is cold it sounds like it has a slight bottom end knock or possibly a lifter tick. It gets quieter when the engine comes up to full operating temperature but never fully goes away. I'm very curious what is causing it.

All with the noise, just got a bad call from the dealer...The motor has to come out and be torn down...Not sure until they get it apart but they think it's a bad bearing or a scuffed piston, but can't be sure until Wednesday when they get it apart...BUMMER!!!
