I am contemplating changing out a stout CAM 227/239 .614/.624.
My question is, will leaving the .650 lift dual spring kit on the engine affect the new standard CAM? I have one "leave them as is" and one "change them as they will wear out the new CAM.
Is it a stock cam? If so why are you thinking about changing back?
I am going with the stock GM CAM. I bought the car with this CAM in it and it runs too rough for me. The previous owner wanted a CAM with a agressive idle, He got one!
The heavy duty double springs were put in with the new CAM.
I understand not wanting such an aggressive cam for street use but why the factory stock cam? You can fo with one close to stock parameters that idle damn near like stock yet give a good bump in power. Since you're doing it you might as well get some free HP. Just my thought.
As to the spring question, I'll leave that for others, Im not sure myself.

Makes sense! I got a quote of $169.00 for the GM stock cam. A cam with a little bump is $389.00. Not sure it is worth $200.00 for a couple of horses that I will probably never use? I just want the car to idle better and get better mileage.
Was the car tuned after the cam install ? That cam *depending* on the LSA should be a decent driver. What is the LSA on the cam ?
Me.....I'd get the car to a GOOD tuner before changing out the cam. I was suprised on what a good tuner did for my car
Good luck !
I keep hearing about a good tuner but how do I find one?
I don't know what LSA stand for but the CAM specs are 227/239 .614/.624. The invoice for the work done indicates "Custom tuning Via EFI Live/Dynojet 224x/Street data logging". I assume that this is the tuning you refer to?
If there is a tuner in the Nashville area, please let me know!

regional forum? yellow page'es? for the stock cam you do not need heavy springs, hell LS engine's don't like high seat pressure's anyway, springs really only need to be upgraded for high lift applications, this is a "roller cam" chance's of wearing it out are slim to none
