dealer has this car havent seen it yet just pics and what not...long story short...car has 150 shot of nos...bottom end is stock...its an 06 c6 lt2 mn6...what to look for in problems? thanks for you time
I hate to say it but I would stay away. Many of the people who install nos abuse it and the motor suffers. If they are willing to warranty it for 2 or 3 years then maybe otherwise find one without it and if you want nos have it installed yourself.
Nitrous is cheap power and some people go for it but I wouldn't even consider buying the car. IMO nitrous is fine for a serious drag car but on a stock, cast-piston engine its a crap-shoot. This image pretty much sums up my opinion.
called the dealer and ofcoarse he had no clue as to what he was talking about..ha.. but the mods are long tube headers x pipe fast tune port injecion(i can see where its a wilson manifold product from a pic) calloway induction msd digital switch dyna tek 3.71 sent me copy of the dyno sheet 435,394 and 540 with the nos cant see the torque...was done on a dyno jet car does come with a warrenty but as to what wayne o was saying is what i was worried about it sill being a stock bottom end with cast pistons... im not a nos fan and would most likely never use it or just wire it up to wide open throttle only... but thanks for all the input kinda new to the vette game and not sure just how much a stock engine in one of these can handle
as has been said on here many times it really all in the tune I don't have any first hand knowledge on this but I would say 700 safely from what Ive seen on here maybe less but it's all in the tune for sure.
As it's already been said, it's probably best to look elsewhere, but if your'e wanting to know how big of a shot of Nitrous you can go without bottom end issues, generally a 150 shot when properly setup is considered safe, 175-200 is pushing it without a lot of safety precautions. That being said, there is a ton of things that could have been damaged by it being raced, with or without nitrous that you may not be able to see.
Things such as:
Broken mounts
Wore clutch
Transmission synchronizer wear
Compromised ring landings from lean spikes
etc,etc...

How long? If they are going to warranty it for 2/24K or something like that I would consider it, just get it in writing. Would be the first I've ever heard of a car that has a full warranty with a 150 shot. If I could get a 3/36 warranty with a 150 shot, I would already have it installed.
not sure how long of a warenty...just said warenty in the email he sent me...i will talk to him tomorrow about more details...just not all that educated on a nos system and how much is too much...the only good thing about them is the price they will give me for my truck...got a lot of money and time in it plus no car payment wich is a plus. price on the car is 32 car has 35,000 miles on it its an 07 not a 06 sry. but whatever, just got the vette itch...ha thanks again for everyones input
Pass on this one and keep looking. Trust me, a much better deal will come along. I waited for the right deal to come along, and I just picked up a 2006LMB Auto 3LT, nav....everything....with 5,400 miles on it for $33,500. If I would have bought the first Vette that caught my eye, I would have missed out on the car of my dreams....with only 5K miles on it.
The car that has everything you want (start making a list) is worth a couple grand more than a cheaper car with things you dont want (too many miles, NOS, not the color you want, not the options you want, etc.).
With mine, I get to put an extra 30,000 miles on it (to equal the mileage on the 1st Vette that I considered buying)...by paying a coulpe grand more. It is WELL WORTH IT!!!!! My wife and I both have company cars, and a truck that we own. The Vette is our "2nd" car...and it might take us 6 years to get it up to 35k miles.....which is what the 1st Vette we were looking at had on it.
Take your time. In the end you will not be kicking yourself saying, "I wish I would have got this, or that, or bought one with less miles, or the color I REALLY wanted, etc."
Either way, good luck....and stay away from cars with NOS!!!!!
I'm surprized that whoever traded the car in to the Dealer originally didn't pull the N2O off like 99% of the other Nitrous users. Lots of used N2O kits out there, where do you think they come from?
I had the same universal NOS kit on three vehicles and removed the kit before each trade in then sold the kit separately after the last trade.
didnt get to talk to the dealer today had to freakin work... again thanks for all the info etc... hal how often did you use nos...on a stock pistons gaskets head bolts etc... thanks

I had a buddy in high school that had an 89 IROC Z, and as soon as he got enough money to fill the bottle, he did so, and then promptly ran it empty. I'd say the motor made it a good 3 months before it went blew.

First put the kit on a Suzuki Swift GT (Geo Metro) with what was supposed to be a 40 shot on the 1300cc I4. then to a '95 tBird 4.6L jetted for a 100 shot, then to a '98 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 75 shot.
All were stock everything (excpt for the N20). WOT trigger was the only control on all three. About a year on the Swift, maybe 10 bottles? Used it a lot but 1300cc's doesn't take much N2O. About 2 years on the TBird, maybe 25 bottles? Used weekends only in good weather. Less than a year on the Ranger, maybe 5 bottles. It would just light the tires up and go nowhere. All were still running fine when I traded them but all had lost some idle oil pressure. Frequent oil changes w/Mobil 1 and frequent spark plug changes were the only extra maintenance. Traded the Ranger for a 2000 Firebird Formula, never hooked up the N2O on it.
