Crikey,
Go to this site . http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ads/index.html . . this is a pretty fair comparison of a few cathedral port heads to include AFR and TFS with the same cam and similar bolt ons as you were looking at. BTW, TFS made the most RWHP and RWTQ, but you need to take a look through all the RPMs for what you are really looking for. Again, there are some nice LS3 P/P heads out there that can save you some $$ on intake and heads. GM has always been at the forefront of technology and with a little P/P and lightweight valvetrain, the LS3 heads are pretty impressive. Charlie, Spin, and Vengeance Racing, to name a few have had great success with LS3 heads. Also, I will be finishing up my car next week and post the dyno for you to see. I'm waiting on TEA to give the flow #s and then VR will match up a cam accordingly . . . I'll post so you can see what a set of LS3 heads does on a 404 stroker. Thanks, and good luck.

GMHighTechPerformance.com published a followup article (LS2 Dyno Thrash III) which showed what a pair of non-ported L92 heads and L76 intake would produce on the LS2 compared to all the aftermarket cathedral port heads.
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ads/index.html

The Trickflows produced more HP (552 vs 546.8), but the L92 heads produced more torque (494.3 vs 486.9). While I agree that the Trickflows are probably better heads than the L92/LS3/LSA heads for highly modified engines, you can't beat the bang for the buck with these GM heads.

With 2 kids in college (ouch!), I need to economize on my mods while getting the best performance increase possible. With the savings on buying the LSA heads vs the Trickflows (approx $1400) I am well on my way to buying a nice set of headers and x-pipe.

Crikey,
The L92s give the most bang for the buck. As stated before, you will save over $1K by buying the L92s ported w/ lightweight valve train, ported LS3 intake, and P/P TB. IMO the TFSs provide more torque on low end than the L92s and will provide a very good resale value. I like the TFS's early torque and also like the built up deck and more efficient valve angle, but I already have a set of L92 heads, and I too, wanted to save dollars. Before I changed out engines, I feel my LS1 w/ P/P 243 heads, aluminum flywheel, Z06 intake, UDD, CAI, headers, P/P TB would take my 404 stroker up to 3K, but after that, the 404 would take off and even get crazy from 4500 RPM on out. Now when I get my upgraded heads back and change cams, that may not be true, and I hope it isn't. IMO I feel the L92s will not give quite the torque that the TFSs give down low . . . again, you know how opinions are. Yes, I feel different camming will get them close, but you will sacrifice the high end that these heads get real crazy at. I mean going sideways a little with new 315 rear tires when hitting 3rd is the type of crazy. I guess what I'm saying is they're both good heads with different characteristics. If you are for saving money and still having performance go for the L92s. Go with a well known tuner and tell them exactly what you want out of your car and your future goals . . . you won't be disappointed with either heads and by telling the tuner your future goals you will save yourself some $$$ in the long run. Man, I've got $34K in upgrades (interior/engine/handling) on my C5 and I've loved every minute of it. As you seen in my earlier post, I am fine with my L92s. I should get them back soon from TEA w/ hollow stem valves and double spring upgrades. Wait another week when VR gets my engine all back together, and I will post my dyno. You've got one of the world's best engineered cars, it's not very hard to make it better with little work. Pls remember no right or wrong, it's what you want and your goals, both are good.

A lot of us got hooked on the L92/LS3 heads a couple of years ago when Scoggin Dickey had them for $199 (they are still only $212)! For that price you could add quality valves, springs and retainers and build a great set of heads for well under $1000 and then sell your old LS2 heads for half the cost.

Default L92 Dyno Results

Crikey,
After recamming and changing out valvetrain, this is what you can expect with ported LS3 intake, ported 90MM TB, Honker CAI, L92 ported heads w/ TEA comp valve job and LS3 hollow stems, VR LS3 custom cam and tuning. Hope this helps your decision. Special thanks to Vengeance for getting me right. BTW, cam only has a 4* split and I have a 3.90 diff.

That is a VERY subjective statement that I would have to disagree with
