The 05 diff is notoriously weak. GM strengthened it for 06 - but an 06 rear is about twice as much as a C5 rear, and it requires a $400 rear trans mount.
The c5 rears are reasonably strong, and if you race a lot, they are a heck of a lot cheaper to replace.
I just send my tranny and diff to rpm, got the stage 3 diff. and tranny upgraded to stage 5 with main shaft, carbon fiber drive line and c5z06 axles, and diff. brace, rather than try to guess what might break I chose to beef it all up, it cost less money to do it right the first time than to waite until you break parts. it cost money to go FAST.

Spoke to Andrew earlier today who is also running a H/C setup and has run consistent mid 10's. He is running a stock tranny with RPM stage 3 diff and C5Z halfshafts. Seems that might be the route I take if its working for him as he definitely leaves the hole more aggressive than I plan on.
