trunk lid won't open..

trunk lid won't open..
We have an '09 vert. Last night when we tried to open the trunk, all we heard was a clicking noise, but the latch will not release and allow the trunk lid to open. Tried the release button on both of our key fobs, the button on the dashboard, the release button above the license plate, and the manual key-insertion release. All methods produce the clicking noise but it's still solidly closed.
Has anyone had this issue, and aside from bringing it to the local dealership clowns, is there any other thing to try? Thought about trying to put the top down (automatic top) but we have a bat bag in the trunk that will not allow the top to fold in if we activate it. Also cannot access the trunk from the passenger compartment (no pass through as with a coupe) to use the emergency trunk release

I would try the key again to open it manually. After you turn the key to the open position try pressing down on the deck lid to see if it will pop open or try lightly prying it open with something that won't scratch the paint.
