The battery is probably bad.

Check the battery voltage after it sits for 24 hours. Remove the negative cable. Take a good digital multimeter and check the voltage of the battery. It should be between 12v and 13v. Reconnect the battery, start the car and it should read ~14v. If less, the alternator needs to be checked.

With the negative terminal disconnected, check for any unusual current draw, by connecting a good digital multimeter to the negative battery terminal and the negative terminal. If it shows more than 250 ma, something is still on and draining it. Look for non-OEM accessories, lights, etc.

Lastly, make sure the top of the battery is clean. A dirty battery can create a short between the terminals in the presents of high humidity. This has happened to me a couple of times. Use a damp cloth with a little bit of baking soda to wipe it off followed by a dry cloth.
