Common C6 Issues
I did a search and did not see a common list of C6 issues. I came from a C5 and I am now in a C6. I know with the C5, there were several items that would go wrong and were easy to fix since others had already had the problem. What are the common issues for the C6?
For instance the C5 had the common issues below.
- Hazard Switch causing turn signals not to work sometimes
- Alignment of headlight stopper that caused it not to close 100%
- Oil Pressure Gauge pegging due to oil seeping into wire connector
- Fuel gauge sticking and needed a fuel cleaner to correct
- ABS/Traction control issue that required a rebuild of EBCM (Lot cheaper than buying new)
- Radio/Console LED backlights needing to be resodered to stay bright
- Starter solonoid causing intermitting starting issues

I'll throw a couple in:
-creaking/popping noises from removable roof
-intermittently working hatch pull down motor
Edit~ These are the only things I know of for which GM has no real solution. The new latches do no work for 100% of the cases. They offered to replace the whole hatch motor assembly but I declined. If/when it stops working all together I will remove the assembly and go all manual ala Z06 to save some weight.

on my c6, 14k miles now, 2 years of ownership:
top creaked, was replaced under warranty
all end links failed, replaced under warranty
door squeaks and rattles, no help from chevy
stock brakes squeak, no help from chevy
so, other than some rattles and annoying noises, nothing too serious, that wasn't addressed by warranty work.

1. Crank sensor-failed 600 miles from Vette Museum Pick up, drove across America in 200 mile increments. Pull over and restart. No dealer had the part at the time.-Warranty
2. Flying roof-replaced-repainted-TSB-Warranty
3. Power Steering-TSB-Warranty
4. Service Active Handling, etc - 2 weeks in shop-communication errors bewteen puters-replaced BCM, door switch, ignition switch-Warranty
5. Auto shifter stuck-broken reverse lock out pin-Warranty
7. Lean code - Bad valve spring-argued with GM and got a 100K warranty on drive train-Warranty
8. Replaced catalytic converters - When lean code tripped-heated and melted cats-Warranty
9. Replaced 2 sets end links-Warranty-junked GM installed Pfadt
10. Clutch pack grinding-GM replaced-came back-Warranty-replaced with Amsoil sever duty
11. Loose axle nuts
I'll go through some receipts, I'm sure there's more.

My 08 has only been troubled with minor stuff..
- Diff chatter-Dealer fixed with oil change
- MN6 1-2 nibble shift when cold..I changed the tranny oil to Redline D4ATF, and put 8K miles on the car..No longer an issue..
- Early 08 had FOB not detected..Mine never did it but was in the vin range for recall so I had it done..
- Roof creaked once, after I had it off for and extended run in the mountains..I loosened the front latches, pushed up on it a bit and re-latched it..No more noise...

RPO QX3 chrome wheels. Very difficult to clean. I had this option on a 2004 C5 and you could literally wipel the dust off the wheels and they looked great. On the 2008 C6 they are very difficult to clean. When I ordered the C6 besides the crystal red paint being put on constraint and delaying manufacture the QX3 wheels were on constraint numerous times. Other then that the 2008 is the best Vet I've had. Six speed convertible with the F55 magnetic selective ride control this is the only one (out of 14!) that hasn't leaked. It's a great car except the wheels just s**k. I'm working with Chevy now to do something about it. More later.
