I have an '08 with F55 (magnetic ride control and heavy duty brakes).
The original pads were metallic, and squeaked frequently during normal stops. So I changed them to AC Delco Ceramics and that completely ended the squeaking on forward stops.
But now it squeaks a LOT as I back out of the driveway (which has a fairly steep slope).
Did you put the pad retaining clips between the pad and caliper?
When I took the calipers off, each one had 2 clips -- one on top and one on the bottom. There was a 3rd (much larger clip) in the box that I didn't use because it didn't have them before and I didn't know where it went. I thought it might be for a different car. Was I wrong? If so, can I buy them separately because I discarded them?

Not sure about the third clip. Mine didn't have one either.
Not sure why the brakes would squeak only in reverse. Does it do it continuously in reverse or just for the first few feet? Does it do it when moving forward at a very slow rate of speed( same speed and pedal pressure as in reverse)?

Its continuous when I'm braking in reverse. It doesn't do it going forward at any speed.
Here's a photo of the hardware that came with the pads. I didn't install the big metal clips (I just replaced the 2 smaller ones on each side). I found out that I can buy them separately if necessary.

Not sure what the larger clips are for. You might be right, it might be for another car with the same pads. Or I just might not remember putting them on my car, it's been awhile.
As for the squeaking, I was going to say it might be pad material that was embedded on the rotors from the old pads that is causing the squeak when the brakes or cold, but it should also squeak going forward if that was the case. So basically, not sure what is causing it.
Bump this up to the top tomorrow, maybe someone else can give some suggestions.

The pads fit both the C5 and C6 calipers. There may have been some engineering changes in the calipers as they went from the C5 to the C6. On the C5 the large clips go on top of the pads and keep them from rattling in the caliper. If you remove the wheel and look at the outside of the caliper you may see a long hole in the bridge from the inside to the outside. That is where the large spring clip goes.
The smaller clips go at the ends of the calipers where the pads rub when the brakes are applied. They permit the pad to slide within the caliper. As for the squeaking just forget about it. Not worth spending time or energy let alone a single penny on a solution. Some brakes squeak and that is just the way it is.
Here is a picture of the caliper. If you look in the center you can see the long somewhat rectangular hole. The narrow end of the spring clip goes in the narrow end of the hole. The clips shown in the picture above look like the clips used in the rear caliper Vs the front caliper.
You have to open the caliper to install the clip. It is a spring that pushes on the long edge of the pads.
I don't know as I have a C6Z which doesn't use those calipers. The clips are called anti rattle springs. Supposedly the C5/C6 Base-Z51 calipers are the same but GM may have added some improvements to eliminate the springs in the C6 version and just use the standard C5 pad kit for both. The springs really don't have to be used in the C5 caliper. A lot of racers don't use them.
Here are a couple of pictures of the front antirattle spring (left side) and the rear antirattle spring.
