Could someone please tell me the normal function of the traction control on a 2009 z51 csr? I thought a light would display on the console indicating that the tires are spinning. I've had the *** of my vette all over the road with no indicator light. Of course I've cycled through all the settings and it displays correctly on the DIC.
Hmm, sounds like mine isn't working then. Thanks for the reply lockman.
When going around a turn a getting into the gas as the rear end is coming around do you feel the power shutting down???The traction control engaged message only displays for a sec or 2 while correcting the spin/slipping of the wheels.
I will assume the traction control is enabled!!!
I haven't been in a turn and have the rear break loose. I've only experienced a straight launch where the rear tries to pass the front. Yes, I have the traction control enabled.
you will feel it more than see it I think I know I can feel mine fall on it's face as soon as it comes on even going straight heck I go over the lovely joints on the interstate here while in on the power hard and it will come on it's rather annoying really..
I'm sure someone will have a more detailed description but simply put TC is designed to limit wheel spin. I suggest you check the owner's manual for more complete information. IMO its a good idea to leave both TC and AH on in normal street driving...they're not a fail safe but they may help in certain circumstances. TC does work...I've felt and noticed TC engaging (for instance when making a tight turn from a stop on a dirt road with a little tire spin or once on a road course when I couldn't get a tire pressure sensor registered and I couldn't engage comp mode). It's not something I try to do intentionally but FWIW I can seemingly 'over-power' TC. Even with TC on if I put my foot down I can still light 'em up.
Do so in a safe setting but IMO whenever you go WOT its best to shutoff TC...you don't want the system fighting your efforts to accelerate (feather the throttle yourself if you need to). You can simply shutoff TC or use comp mode (which shuts-off TC and 'relaxes' AH intervention).
If you're looking at the little orange tracton control icon, I think that just comes on if you turn TC off. I don't belive that comes on during TC/AH intervention. My DIC will often say in words "Traction Control Active" or "Active Handling Active". They can come on and off quick sometimes, but sooner or later you should notice these messages...
I went to the track a few times, and I like to keep an eye on the oil temp... One time I was trying to check the oil temp and every time I got a chance to look down the DIC was displaying a TC/AH active message...I wasnt noticable sliding, but close enough to the edge that the system kept engaging and I couldnt get a temp reading...

The TC/AH symbol lights-up when you turn-off TC... it's a warning that you're unprotected! It also lights-up in Competitive mode. And it lights-up if there's a problem with the system.
Push the TC button once (TC off) or twice (Comp mode). You'll see the symbol light-up and a DIC message appear.
On the other hand, you will NOT see a light if the system is trying to keep your Vette under control. That is, the TC/AH symbol does NOT light-up when TC or AH are activated (reducing-power or applying-brakes to try to keep the car under control).
Instead, a "TRACTION SYSTEM ACTIVE" message appears on the DIC. Or when AH is activated, you get an "ACTIVE HANDLING" message on the DIC.

yea on 264 they have what I like to call speed bumbs huge expansions in the road if I'm on the power when I go over one the tractions control comes on because the tires are spinning while they are off the ground and it kills the power lovey virginia roads
the car with skid marks light, comes on when:
TC is off, and AH is still on, OR when both TC and AH are both off.
Comp mode will turn off TC, and relax AH, but the little light will go off in that mode.
