Default Callaway filter oiling?

I bought a used Callaway Honker set up for my ls3. I cleaned the filter with proper cleaning spray. I was on the Callaway website and it said to put their specific oil on it. I have some Blackwing air filter oil. This may sound stupid, but does anyone know if this is basiclly the same thing and safe to use on the Callaway?
If you have anytips on the install process that would be appreciated. It did come with a precut shroud, so I'm thinking that should make the process easier.
Thanks for the help.

and, if it were me, I'd err on the side of less vs. more oil.

It's a K&N filter, so a K&N recharge/cleaning kit should be sufficient for at least a couple years of cleanings.

If you're REALLY a cheap-o, you could use a light gear oil, but since the "correct" stuff isn't expensive at all, I'd stick with that.

Unless it was before we spec'd a K&N design for our Honkers.

I dunno, and I'm not trying to argue the point. I have a Honker system, and my filter is a K&N.

And I checked the MSDS sheets...the Blackwing oil is a different mixture, so I definitely would not use it on the Callaway.

No worries. I just want to point out we switched to our K&N element a few years ago

Thanks a lot for the info. It's appreciated. I'm pretty sure it's the K&N version as it's blue. I'll go ahead and verify that with the Callaway people.
Thanks again,
Jack

I have the green filter so I bought the green filter cleaner and oil. But to tell you the truth, they are all cotton filters and I wouldn't think twice of using K&N on my green filter. It's really not rocket science.

Took the safe route. Just called your number and purchased a new filter. By the way, very helpful person on the other end. I believe his name is Mike.
Thanks
