Default Weird question?

For you guys (and gals) that run HPDE. I noticed this past weekend that my airbag light came on. When I started the car before the sessions, it was off, but when I went to pull in to cool the brakes, the airbag light was lit.

Is this due to the high speed? I came close to 150 on the back straight.

The light has not come back on, but then again, I am not going anywhere near that fast on the streets.

Just curious, since the problem is not repeating.

It's crazy how the Airbag and Check Engine lights can go off on their own. No lamp that indicates a fault which you have to extract with a code reader should _ever_ go out until it's manually reset.

It's definitely not related to speed.

I'm sure it's related to loads on the seat during cornering.

There are a couple connectors under the seat - depending on what trim level you have, there will be connectors for the seat belt pre-tensioner and the side airbag. All the SRS wire harness connector plugs are yellow.

I would imagine that with the loads on the seat rails during cornering may have put some pressure on those wires/connectors and created the problem.

I drive with the seat all the way down and back, so the wires have minimum space under the seat bottom and with my 220 lbs squishing down the seat bottom there's not much clearance below the seat.

If you continue to intermittently have the light, make sure the yellow connectors under the seat are properly connected.

Before you mess with those connectors, make sure the car has been shut down for several minutes to allow any charge in the airbag circuits to dissipate so you won't accidentally activate it.

Bob,

That makes sense. I am 40 pounds heavier than you, and have the seat exactly as you describe that you have yours, all the way back and down.

The seat was removed the day prior to facilitate the installation of the racing harnesses, specifically the lap belts. I will take a look when I feel better, been down with the flu for the last couple of days.

When you reinstall the seat, its a good idea to tie wrap the connectors up so they don't drag on the carpet or seat frame.

My old vette 2008 had the problem at speed... seemed like any time it went over 140 mph the light came on. I would be going straight, no corners.

The new one 2010 auto, completely stock, did it atleast once.

Just shutting the car off and starting it back up clears it.

I don't know the reason, but its definitely not cornering as mentioned above.

In regards to those that have thr SRS light coming on during fast excelleration and high speed, do you have a K&N intake installed by chance ?

I ask as I have he same issue on a '10 GS and '12 GS, and dthe dealer swears its the K&N setting off the front sensors
