Default Header coating or not?

Is there a need to get headers coated if they are the T-304 Stainless alloy? These are LG's and the ad says they are fully polished.
Thanks!

I have never been a big believer in coated headers.

With that said, this is my 2nd C6 but the 1st to get coated 1 7/8's (TSP) headers (last C6 had Kooks ss) and it is amazing how much radiant heat it keeps out of the engine bay. A cooler engine bay will prolong the life of everything in it.

I will only buy coated headers from now on.

The H pipe will not see anything close to the heat at the headers. When I had my headers coated that wasn't an option so it probably be a waste of money.

coating on the x-pipes make the slip joints much, much tighter and difficult...

OK, so coated headers bring down the temps in the engine bay; and that is a good thing.
Approximately how much more does it cost to get these coated?

Marylandspeed has free coating on Kooks headers when you order the x-pipe along with it....

Correct me if Im wrong but, Ive heard that coating does reduce engine bay heat, HOWEVER, it keeps more heat IN the engine.
Ive seen alot of vendors are non fans of coating.

Mine still look new. I think it helps keep the heat inside the header tubes where it belongs.
Any engineers out there?

Huh? I'd be interested to know more about any objections that 'vendors' (or whoever) might have objections to coating...

I installed LS7 exhaust manifolds on my LS2... had the Jet-Hot Extreme Sterling done before install... they look super and there can be no question that they reduce under-hood temps.

Exactly, there is no question the coating reduces the under hood temps, its the "in" the engine part that needs clarifying...

The few that I spoke with when looking into headers said "dont believe in it".

Ive seen magazine articles about header wrap.
This was said to keep underhood temps down and increase performance.
The downside was that it deteriorated the headers in a pretty quick fashion. Maybe its warranty reasons why the vendors aren't too keen on the coatings.

Can uncoated headers really be any hotter than the factory cast iron?

I'm not trying to be a smart a** here, but I checked out the site, and the only benfits I see is rust (which stainless doesn't) and appearance (which I'm not worried about). Did I miss something?

It doesn't look like we read the same website...

I'm sold for sure. Lower under hood temps prolong the life of everything heat-sensitive in there plus unless you have a true CAI (most merely filter air from under the hood) you're heating up your intake air supply. That's enough reason for me.
