Default ported intake/TB without headers/cam?

Folks,

I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to this type of stuff. I have searched CF and read a lot of posts, but I noticed most people do the ported intake/TB after headers and cam? I am not intending to do the headers/cam (mostly for cost reasons, but also for smog in CA). I have read that porting/changing the intake gives some amazing bang for the buck.

Please educate me. How much does it cost to do the porting/installation? should I even be considering it yet? How much HP will I get based on my current mods (listed below in my signature). thanks for any help you can provide!

My guess is that you would pick up 5-7 RWHP at best with porting. IMO it is not worth much and easy to screw up the TB if you don't know what you are doing, causing driveability issues and tuning problems.

Thanks. I would certainly not do the work myself. I would have my performance shop install and re-tune.

Where's the best place to pick up the parts? How much do they cost?

Most tuner shops offer porting and so do some of the forum vendors. IMO you are better off putting the money towards a cold air kit and tune though.

I ported my own LS2 TB and was highly successful. Its not that difficult but, it takes some skill and care.

I may just remove the LS2 intake manifold and see what I can do to get it to flow a bit more air.

Does anyone have pictures of some LS2 intake porting?

I ported my own FAST 90 and it turned out EXCELLENT! Made 450 rwhp on my 02 ZO6 heads /cam ported FAST 90/90 install.

Talking to some friends, I have some ideas on going a little deeper on the Fast 90 intake porting for some more power. STAND BY

Port matching yes. Porting the IM and TB, waste of $. Measured it. Done it, forget it.

porting your stock intake wont do a whole lot. Your better off getting a fast with your ported TB. It will make about 25 rwhp if properly done.

Here is a forum vender that is running a special right now on ported intakes and throttle bodies. I just installed headers and I'm thinking about ordering one of these myself.
