Why would you want to go with a lower stall just because your swapping gears? A high stall converter is an absolutely perfect complement to a gear upgrade and anybody who tells you different is misleading you.

All you have to do is look at the 1/4 mile list. Most of them are auto's and all of them have a stall.
I have a ss3600 and love it.
You just need to find the right person to tune it.
As far as there being " a new sheriff in town" I'd like to see that. I have seen very few of your results with track times to back them up. I am always open to learning something new.
I'm certainly willing to let the OP drive my 3200 Yank in my minor modded C6.
The tune does make a difference. I had a forum vendor's tune that I removed due to various issues, including over pressure/over rev that caused lack of WOT traction during shifts. That was a problem, both before and after the converter install. Now it shifts smooth yet firm at WOT and I've gained .4 in the 1/4 mi. About .3 was the converter and the rest was the tune.
IMO the drivability now is better than stock, however I've lost 1-1.5 mpg in town. It's the price I'm willing to pay for the performance gain.

That is a pretty bold statement. I rairly see dyno sheets or time slips showing improvement from these special tunes, let alone any records being broken
All I ever here is that "the seat of my pants" really feels the difference from his tune.

He thinks he's the only one who knows anything about corvettes and "most of us on the forum are idiots". That quote is right from the horses mouth, sorry I meant cows mouth.
Didnt mean to start a debate here... :/ I do appreciate everyones input though. However, I'm going to stick with the new converter based on Chuck's recommendation and the fact that he's offering me a great package deal. So, if anyone is looking for one of these nice "high" stahl converters i've got one for sale I'll definatly let you know how it goes for driveability and track performance!! My local track opens up tomorrow..so (weather permitting) I may run it before the change..and again after I visit New York and post the results.
So.. I read that thread about the new converter. Did that guy ever post times (track times) before and after the converter install? I saw where he posted some dyno results after he did a few more mods.. (vararam intake, tune, etc).... just curious what the results would be just with converter before and after. Oh well.... I'm definatly going to run mine at the track before..... then again after to see what kind of real world results I get after dropping $3k on this thing Hoping for some decent results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
