I have an A4 with H/C/I tune all the goodies. Today I went out and floored it and it stayed at redline longer than usual. It was only first gear in second it didn't stay long at all. Is there a specific reason for this? Was the car not warmed up enough yet? I didn't let it warm up as much as usual this time around. Does it sound like a tuning issue or could this be mechanical (hope to god it's not). Or could it just be something that may happen every once in a while?
I'm thinking it was altered with the tune. It just seemed like it stayed around redline and just sat there for a couple seconds before it shifted into 2nd.
if the trans was cold it might not shift right until up to temp, if you didn't break anything or have any weird noises out of the engine now I would say your OK.

I wouldn't make a habit out doing that.
Ive had this problem with my a4 when the tranny is not up to temp. The cold fluid doesnt shift the gears in the tranny quickly enough and it just hangs around the redline waiting for the fluid to move through it.

Ok. That makes sense. It was kinda chilly out today and I was showing someone what the power feels like. Guess I should have waited till everything was up to temp. I usually don't do anything like that but he was so excited to be in my car lol.
If the tranny fails to shift, the engine should either hit the rev limiter, or if the rev limiter is disabled, rpm should continue to increase. I don't understand why rpm would remain constant near redline. Is the car continuing to accelerate during this time period where rpm is near redline? Any chance wheelspin is to blame, or TC?

I didn't feel any wheel spin on anything the TC was on. Yes it was still accelerating but very little. It just seemed like once it got passed 6500 it took a while to shift. It went to 6500 real quick (like normal) but then after that it took a couple seconds to get the like 6700ish. But that was when I glanced down. I try to watch the road as much as possible. Kinda like it was just hanging there longer than usual.
I remember riding in my friends LS1 Camaro a couple of months ago and the same thing happened. It was a little chilly and he didn't give the car much time to warm up. As far as I know, he hasn't had any problems since then.
I always let my car reach the normal operating temperature before putting the hammer down.
