My wife helping me with the back bolts on FAST intake dropped a piece of 1/4" x 1/2" tubing down into the engine. Tryed sucking and hooking it out but no luck.
Hanger with a piece of really stick duct tape but really make sure the tape will not come off the hanger. Maybe even warm up the tape a bit with a hair dryer so it's really tacky.
If you want to go hi-tech, I think home depot has video camera snakes so you can take a look inside. Plumbers have been using them for a few years.
I am also a proud new owner of a Craftsman 6.5 hp shop vac / detachable blower. Taped all the other holes closed and one of the hose attachments lined right up with the hole. Sucked that little devil right up! And then we did the dance of joy!

My gf wanted to help me install headers....somehow my brake fluid cap ended up inside my fender, BEHIND the washer fluid tank. Had to take the whole fender off to get that stupid cap.
For subconscious repayment, I did accidentally roll her head up in the window the next day. HAHA!
4-finger grabber tool - i have one of these in my toolbox, and i can't tell you how many times i've retrieved parts dropped down inside an engine compartment. you can pick these up at NAPA, harbor freight, autozone, advanced auto, etc.
and BTW, good job with the shopvac. now tell your wife to go and get you a cold one!
