A-6 transmission

While sitting at traffic light. I hear a clunk from transmission, check engine light comes on. Tran then is stuck in 2nd gear. I must stop car and restart in order to get it to shift back automatically.Everything is back to normal..Except check engine light remains on.HAS ANYONE ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM? Or know what this could be, its happened twice now.

I've had 2 A-6's, an 2006 & current 2007, never had issues. Are you still under warranty? Take to dealer

But now that it seems to be fine (other than the dash light) I would consider disconnecting the battery for a few hours (or overnight even), it likely won't do anything but it also may turn that light off and this issue might not ever come back again.

I would check for codes. If you have a check engine light, codes should be pesent. Using a code reader/HP Tuners/etc. connected to the OBDII port, check to see what codes are present. Most auto parts stores will check for codes at no charge. If you are not in possession of a code reader, check with Checker Auto/PeP Boys/Auto Zone/NAPA or other auto parts store for their help.
