Anybody ever done this? What was required? I know you need everything from the crank back to get the drive line swapped out but do you need to change the pcm as well? Im just curious because Im considering do this but may change my mind if its too complicated. Thanks for the help.
With enough $$ and time you can swap anything. There are a few guys on this Forum that have changed their Z06 M6 to an A6.
Big $$ to do your swap, you'd be better off selling your car at wholesale and buying a replacement at retail. Less money out of pocket and a saleable car when your done.

I've done it on a C5 and since the C6 is similar, I'll offer you some real life experience.
The swap of the mechanical parts is not much worse than switching out a clutch.
You'll need to add a few wires for the reverse lock-out, CAGS (if you want that function, clutch safety switch and cruise control.
Biggest PIA is doing the pedal swap and hole in the firewall for the clutch master.
Once that is all complete you need to have your PCM reflashed with a manual tune. You can do this by getting the stock vin from a manual car of the same year and have the dealer reflash the PCM.
Then you're all good to go. A couple of weekend job.
If you need any parts contact the guys at RPM Transmission in Indiana.
get yourself a yank torque converter and a b&m supercooler transmission cooler. waaay cheaper to do, and much faster to boot. you will have a ball with your car. it really wakes it up !!!

Ive got this set up now. The only problem I notice is that it gets really tranny gets really hot while Im auto crossing it even with the cooler. It also likes to not shift during hard cornering and Im thinking its because of the stall. It may just be the tune but I dont know.

the supercooler fixed my trans heating up. i have a 3600 SS YANK. a little loose for the street but GREAT at the track.................... it only gets up to 194 degrees max on a 85 degree day. even if i run it hard...............

Mine doesnt get hot at the drag strip ever. But like I said auto cross is a whole other story. I could probably stand my cooler up a little more but the shifting still isnt right. Maybe its a tune issue.
