New to the board and unfortunately this is my first post. I have a '07 Z51 with a D1 Procharger. On the way home from work today, after a mildly spirited drive, my radiator fan turned on and I instantly felt a bad vibration throughout the car. I was on a mile from home and when I shut the car down, the electric fan stayed on for a moment. It is obvious that the fan has lost it's balance or starting to loose a bearing.
My questions are:
1.) Should I replace the stock fan or upgrade to a Dewitts w/ dual fan setup? It's important to note that I live in Texas and summer is a month away.
2.) I purchased the car about a month ago and haven't wrenched on it yet. (I've built up many cars and pretty mechanically inclined) With the blower setup I have, is it fairly easy to replace the fan/radiator from the top of the car or should I remove from below?
3.) Best place to purchase a stock fan?
4.) Best (i.e. cheapest) place to purchase a dual fan dewitts radiator setup?
Well it sounds like you need a fan anyway... that being said you can't beat the Dewitts for it's heat transfer vs. a stock radiator. If you don't mind spending the extra $800 or so while you pull it apart, you will not regret it.

like the better radiator idea and dual fans (if they come with a nice shroud to funnel the air) would help as well. Of course when your spirited you need to shut the AC down as well. It robs HP and adds heat to the radiator.
Don't bother with dual fans. The problem can be solved with a 160* stat in conjunction with a DeWitts radiator. If you're really serious, the addition of a Mezziere electric water pump to take the parasitic loss off the engine. I've been running this set-up for over a year now and there are no issues--it's all good. Changing the fans or putting on fan switches is of little, if any, use at all and generally causes more electrical problems than it's worth.
If you do change thermostat value, make sure to re-calibrate the ECM accordingly.
