Default additional service items - thoughts

hi all, i've had my 06 c6 for a month now and am loving it, but not the dealer who i purchased the car from. I was told the car was fully serviced to date and GM certified, but it is not.

Anyway that aside I recently had the traction control "clip" fitted by another dealer due to fix an intermittent traction warning. The dealer advised that due to mileage (43k) the following items are due:

1) Injector / Throttle Body Service
2) Differential Service
3) Transmission Service
4) Coolant Service

Can anyone advise reasonable costs for this work? I was given a quote of $700 by the main dealer but that seems massively excessive to me (but I am only fresh from the UK so have little experiece of the US pricing to go by).

Would appreciate any guidance.....

Read your owners manual. The only maintenance that it might need if it hasn't already been done is replacing the anti-freeze. It is a DIY project but if the dealer does it your probably looking at $100 or more. My guess is the rear end was done on a customer complaint TSB.

Good luck and let them know you read the manual and know what your talking about.

That maintenance plan is excessive. I have a 2006 and have accomplished none of the formentioned items. If it isn't broke don't fix it.

It is very reasonable to do all of those service items at 50K, so the recommendation is not out of line. Your car will run without them being done, but if there is any chance you may keep the car for more than a couple of years I would be proactive.

As long as you follow the recommendations in the Service Manual the car will last a very long time. The bare minimum service that most GM cars see is oil change and coolant change based on the manual recommendations. Diff and tranny fluids can go a very long time before requiring service. The cars just do not need a lot of preventative maintenance or tinkering like some other makes require.
