Default Headers 1-3/4" or 1-7/8"

I'm in the market to buy some long tube headers in the next month and wanted some input from some of you guys that have built ls3 motors. I don't know whether to go with 1-3/4 or 1-7/8 for my 08 Coupe. I know the 1-3/4 are going to give me more low end torque and the 1-7/8 are going to give me more high end hp. I don't plan on FI the motor maybe just a mild cam down the road. Some of friends that work on LSx motors say that LS2 benefits more from the 1-3/4 and the LS3 works better with the 1-7/8 headers. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

This is a good thread as I am also interested in what to do here I have an 07 with the LS2 and wanting to upgrade also within the next 30 days and then add ported fast intake, callaway Honker, ported heads hardened rods with new springs and mild cam but wondering what size headers to go to.

WELL, THE 7/8 WOULD BE GOOD IF DECIDE TO GET A BLOWER LATER BUT 3/4 WORK WELL ALSO.

I AM GOING WITH LG'S in 7/8's.

No blower here looking for natural asperation. I take the car to the track and just looking to hook it up some before the next time I am out. Tunning can be done down the road from me at Maryland Performance.

1 7/8's since mods never stop and always go big since they don't hinder you at all

1 7/8" all the way. The difference in most applications is too small to notice, but the bigger header gives you room to grow. It's kinda like wearing a shirt a size to big thinking your gonna work out. If you have questions, give us a call @ 443-730-9428. Thanks!
