Default Leaking P/S system

Has anyone had a slow leak problem from the LS3 power steering system? It seems to be slow but hard to find.

Thanks

I have noticed the same thing on my 08. It looks like mine might be leaking at the connector in the line right below the P/S resevoir.
Have you noticed a change in steering response/effort at low speed? Every once in a while mine will act like the power steering is gone. It is difficult to turn the wheel and then it just kicks back in.

I have the leak also, it doesn't leak everyday but it is making a mess under the Vette. I changed the high pressure line and it still does the same thing. I will change the power steering pump soon to see if that helps.

Usually you can see where it is coming from if you clean the area and then keep an eye on it. The fluid will act like glue and hold the dust and grime from the road.

This is annoying. Changed the line...$236 + labor still leaks. Sucks..

Mine has been damp since practically new. Had the dealer look at it once; added dye but could not detect leak. I suspect (in my case) it doesn't constantly leak but high RPMs pushes some fluid out intermittently. Found that running with the level not quite topped helps as well. No issues with steering or fluid loss, but lines are always wet looking.

On my LS2 I once found a small amount PS fluid on the hoodliner just above the alternator pully. It was a slight leak somewhere that would get on the belt and get flung onto the hoodliner when the belt made the sharp bend around the pully.

I asked the dealer to look at it and they said it was a small leak and replaced the PS fluid pump under warranty. I posted a thread on it titled "oil on hoodliner" or something like that. I got a PM from another guy with the same issue shortly after that.

don't know if that is similar to you situation, but maybe it's a useful data point for you.

on the pump itself there are 3 possible places for leaks. inlet, outlet and the bypass valve.
many more places for the hoses, rack, attachment at steering column
just a few pics with the pump off the car

small bypass valve next to outlet

I had a similar leak and it turned out to be leaking slowly at the power steering pump shaft. The fluid got on the pulley and was sprayed around the area when the engine is running, making it appear that the hoses above were the source of the leak. I had seen another post or two on this forum for the same problem. It may be related to long periods of not being used, perhaps distorting the seal. At least one person had mentioned that it happened after storing the car for a while and mine happened shortly after the car was down for a 2nd rebuild of my very unreliable Lingenfelter motor.

I checked mine today and it looks like the plastic covered area is SOAKED in power steering fluid, but the nut above where the conection is to the pump itself was DRY.

How difficult is it to change the high pressure hose?
