That's because it isn't fixed.

Thanks! I am looking into finding a reputable mechanic who will do the work (and maybe change the cam at the same time...) ... so any input from any Vette owners located near Kokomo, Indiana would be appreciated ... and thanks again!!

Thank you very much! (My dad was a mechanic and I research/read a LOT on my Vette...)

"Mods" ... love 'em ... but really "wanted" my next to be a Borla catback exhaust ... but I guess that will have to wait a bit ... <sigh>

Borla,X-pipe, headers,AIS,cam, and springs + a tune and you have a completely differant car. Sounds like you and your dad can do it. Feel free to PM me if you have questions. The balencer is the toughest part of the job,But not a real big deal at all. All the parts you need are pieces you can find used in C6 parts on the forum. Save a ton of $

Does anybody have a copy of the letter they are willing to scan and post? Since I am the second owner on my car, I probably won't receive one and I'd like to see it.

I will probably call my dealer soon and see if the recalls have been done on my car. The "Service Active Handling" message has come on a few times, but has since gone away. A new top (if that's what they are offering) would be nice too.

I own a Prowler also and those had a safety recall for the upper ball joints and a couple of other things. Chrysler has a website you can go to where you enter the VIN of the car and it tells you what recalls have already been done and/or which ones are still needed. Does Chevy not have a similar site?

Hi, i had mine done when it was still new . I will look and hopefully find it for you. but ive since traded the car in. Also I didn't get a new top , they just needed to adjust something on mine , one more thing im not sure why these things are getting to the public after almost six years , its was a major safety issue , so most likely yours was fixed by the first owner or seems to me , it would have happened by now if it was going to. I know I didn't help a bit ..LOL..sorry bout that but i will give you my original papers on it if i do find them. OH and maybe chevy does have a recall site makes, sense to me. and ive heard of the brakes locking after the light has lit up and gone away , too.
good luck, Blown632Monte

Thanks for posting! I bought my 2005 in April 2010 and need to take it to my local dealer to have the recall performed. I have not had any issues and want to avoid them!

I think this might help you...

http://www.gm.com/gmownercenter/gm/

I just signed up and when you add your car by VIN they have the letters for the recalls that directly affect your specific car. Hope that helps.

Default Roof fix question...

What exactly are they doing when they say they are "will install a new design roof panel." Is this a whole new roof or just modding my existing one?

The reason I am a little hesitant to get the roof replaced is because the 05' Daytona Orange was hard to match at the factory, much less 7 years later. Any input/suggestions from those who have had this done? Especially any DSOM owners who have had this done?

Obviously it needs to be fixed before flying off during a 160 pull even if that means a color mismatch. Thanks for the help!

Its a whole new roof, except for the hardware and weatherstripping (I think) which is transferred over to the new roof. When I had mine done, they wanted the old roof so that the paint could be matched when the new one went to the paint shop. It's my understanding that the paint is computer matched. Mine came back with a perfect paint match.

BTW, you do NOT get your old roof back.........for obvious reasons.

I have my DSOM at the dealer now getting the roof and steering done. I will let you know how it comes out. The dealer here in Houston told me that the DSOM is a 3 step process and will take a few days.

Default Recurring and Typical Problems for C6- seeking advice.

I just bought my 2005 C6 with telescoping steering wheel and I was dropping my son off at a golf practice on a dry day. I was going about 5mph and taking a sharp right turn into a drop off lane. I hit a small puddle and all of a sudden my rear passenger brake locked up and my steering seemed to lock as well. It only lasted a second or two but considering I was at super slow speed it really concerned me that this could happen at high speed as well. I didn't know if the puddle had anything to do with it but the symptoms sounded just like what was described in this recall.
So, I called the dealer, gave them my vin and they said this recall was performed in April of 2010 and that GM won't pay to fix it again. Has anyone had this problem come back after taking their car in for the recall?
On another note, I've been reading in the forums about other problems. I am apparently not the only one with these;
-occasional stall at low rpm or when letting off gas. I have a supercharger so I may just need to take the car to a good tuner for this one.
-gas gauge not working until it hits about 1/2 tank full. Can someone clarify for me if this tends to be a sending unit or if the Techron treatment often fixes this one?
I plan to take my car to the dealer to look at problems 1 and 2 along with inspecting the brakes due to excessive rear end brake noise (pads are good). Rotors are okay.
Thanks for any insight that might save me a few bucks at the dealer.

The dealership said they already performed this recall but its still having the problems. Any advice? They want me to pay out of pocket obviously.

Since they finally issued a recall on this item - when are they going to PERMINENTLY fix the problem with the slave cylinder on the 6 speeds!? I had to replace mine at 12,000 miles. My friend had his replaced 5 times since 2005!

According to what I have read, this is Safety Recall that will never expire in time, and issued back in 2010.
If you ever brought your car in for service, and they always check for recalls, and this popped up, they have to repairs it before returning your car to you. Once a car goes into the shop for repairs of any type all Safety Recall by law have to be completed.
