I'm new to the forum but have lurked every now and then for a year or so. About 2 months ago I purchased a 2007 Corvette from a private car lot in NJ. The salesman said it had some work done to it but he's not sure what. The previous owner had some mods done by a shop and when he sold it he told the salesman about the mods but that salesman is no longer working there and nothing was marked in the paperwork. I took it for a test drive while I was out there and it ran great and sounded mean. I decided to buy it and now it's sitting in the garage of my new house in NJ. I'm currently in the process of moving from CA, so I'm not with the car at the moment. My question is, is it possible to tell what has been done to the car by just scanning it or looking for something? I don't know much about engines and tuning but I can see that it at least has an air intake, headers, and an exhaust. I don't know if anything else has been done and the car dealer was no help. I also don't want to bring it to a dealership. Especially since I don't know them that well to trust them with the car. Any recommendations on what I should do?
You'll need to post again when your with the car. & some photos will assist. good luck
Thanks. I definately will post some pics. My wife has some on her digital camera but they're just of the outside. I don't have any engine pics and I wouldn't even know what to take a picture of. I should be fully moved in the next month or so. It's crazy so I don't have much time to search on here. But now that it's almost summer in NJ, I want to be able to enjoy the car when I get there.
Congats on the vette... If it were mine.. I would take it to East Coast Superchanging there in NJ and have them go over it. They should be able to help... In fact they may be the shop that work on it. Search the forum and you will find them. "ECS".
When you transfer the title, see if you can get your hands on the old title and find out the previous owners name and address so you can contact him and find out what has been done to the car.

I agree 100%. ECS can do some checking and probably ID at least 75% of what hads been done, if not 100%. It depends if internal changes have been employed.
Congrats on your vette and house.
Give a call to all the local vette speed shops in the tri state area, COW,ECS, Vette Doctors, Cartec are a few I can think of. There aren't that many you may get lucky and find the shop that did the work.
