Anybody have one? Love it or hate it? Suggestions as to which one to buy? I'm talking about a C6, I've seen the threads on the C5 ones already, so please don't tell me to 'go search.'

I installed an MGW about a year ago and have driven about 4,000 miles. On every drive, whether locally in the city or on the highway, shifting is tight, that sloppy stick is gone, and each shift moves solidly into its position.

my z had a hurst on it when i picked it up.... love how it shifts but aftera month now the rattle is annoying me. going to try mgw if i can't get rid of the rattle but it seems some mgw shifters rattle too
From: Austin, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Houston, Dallas, Hong Kong, Elgin, etc.. Texas
The rattle, excessive vibration, and vague shifting most often is due to the factory shifter box mount bushings going bad. When you install a new shifter, make sure you look at these bushings and replace them if they are starting to break up.
See this thread for full details on getting replacement bushings.
I have been concerned about the stock shifter being too catchy for some time now and does anybody know if most of the catchyness or lack of smoothness is in the transmittion. Will a MGW shifter eliminate most of
clunkiness or is it just simply a shorter throw. Will a new shifter enable
the car to be power shifted ? I understand it can be replaced from in the Car without ever going underneath to put it on.
I notice this as well, the transmission is VERY notchy. It is the furthest thing from fluid and I'm reluctant to shift aggressively (and that's completely discounting the fact that it has the notorious second gear synchro issue). I'd love it if this short throw shifter solved that problem! My dad's '06 Z06 feels smooth as butter and apparently has the same transmission?

Another vote for MGW. You will not regret buying it; excellent product sold and serviced by a great vendor.
Can't beat the Hurst Billet plus. One piece stick and solid. The rattle comes with all short shifters. Esp the on Z-06. I got rid of the rattle.
I made a recent post on how.

It really doesn't matter what shifter you have. They are all the same design. A stick going through a hole. It is pure simplicity and cannot really be improved upon. It isn't like the old days where there were two shift levers on the outside of the tranny and the shifter had a complicated linkage to make them move properly.
If you want to speed shift with stock shifter use your finger tips and the heel of your hand. Do not grab the shifter and aim it toward the next gear or else you will miss the shift. You can make the 2-3 shift just by pushing with the heel of your hand. The transmission centering action will move the shifter into the proper gate without any hassle. The 08 transmissions were a little smoother than previous years and I can basically shift the tranny in my Z without using my arm. I just rest my palm on the top of the shifter and bend my fingers or wrist to shift. Its almost like having a toggle switch to play with.
FWIW, I'm currently using an MGW shifter mounted in the Z06 box that came with my car. It's a very nicely made part that works as advertised: Shorter throws and no inherent slop in it's mechanism. And no, I don't have any noise from it.
Is it better than the stock unit? Well, personally I LIKE it better but that's just my $0.02 and I never thought there was anything "wrong" with the stock setup.
So count me as an MGW fan Hope this helps answer the OP's question.
BTW, could someone please define the terms "catchy", "clunky", and my favorite, "notchy"? Not sure what they mean
