Apparently the Vette-Air is still causing problems with the MAF.

Will disconnecting the battery cancel the CEL? Does anyone know how many start cycles it normally takes to clear the CEL if there are no more problems?
From what I experienced (LS3) and Vararam explained, that there may be surging for the first 50 miles or so, depending on speeds driven. My A6 may have dampened the effects somewhat, but they were still evident initially. Several factors related to incoming air have changed and the computer needs time to make the gradual adjustments.

After ~20K, I put my stock unit back on for a few days while modifying the Vararam. I had surging again for a bit. Then surging a bit when I went back to the modded mod again.

My advice is to give it a little time.

I have not claimed one is better than the other performance wise but surely there is a difference just in the design when water ingestion is an issue.
For drag racing this looks great, but for a HPDE or road racing it looks like you would see hi temps with how much radiator is blocked

When we closer to the event send me a PM if your coming and we can get a group together for a beer and BS outing!

Looking forward to the shoot out and meeting some CF members

Won't make any difference, the C6 is a bottom feeder, most of the cooling air comes from under the grill/facia.

The base C6 has an opening below to get air but the Z06 has this opening blocked off. The Z06 gets all it's cooling air through the grille. The radiator opening behind the grille is the same size on both the base C6 and the Z06.

The Z06 is a front feeder as you stated but at a HPDE the car speed will force more than enough air thru that big opening.

Spent the last two hours making a baffle and installing it. Disconnected the battery while working on it to clear the CEL.

Just got back from a romp on the freeway. The car ran perfect. No surging at all. Let off the gas at 80 MPH and the car SMOOTHLY decelerates, no bucking like before. Drove around town at low speeds, everything perfect. CEL did not come back on.

If AirBusPilot and I ever cross paths I'm buying him the biggest steak he can stuff down his gullet. I made the baffle from some 1/8" Plexiglas I had laying around instead of the old license plate like he used. Made it 3" X 10" and mounted exactly like his pics show.

If Vette-Air happens to read this post, I hope he will either provide a baffle with the Vette-Air or mention that a baffle may be needed and furnish a drawing of the baffle and pics of it installed. Might save some people a bunch of grief on down the line.

I haven't decided what to do with the Attack Air filter. Since I have the car running with the Vette-Air and the factory filter element, I hate to mess with it.

While researching(asking for help) for my problem, I see that Callaway has had a problem with some applications using their Honker with surging, etc. I see where they have a baffle now, appears to be metal with punched louvers, to solve the problem

I wonder if it would be worth the time(and money) to rework a Halltech BeeHive to fit around the stock airbox to separate that cool air that the Vette-Air is letting in, from the underhood heat coming from the engine compartment?

It wouldn't have taken as long if I had had a helper(with small hands). The blood cleaned up pretty easy.

I haven't changed the filter yet. I Haven't really decided, but it will be a TKO, or a ZR1.
Yeah, come to think....I had a little blood on me also. I wish Carlos was close by, he can install one in his sleep, and I love writing checks to someone that knows what they are doing.
My car didn't throw any kind of code either.
Larry

Thanks Larry.

Yeah, I can install a Vette-Air scoop in less than 15mins. And no blood and no blondies

Here are my secrets:
*warm engine bay...it makes the shroud more flexible and easier to cut.
*I dont need the template...I already know where/how to cut. But if implemeting the template, then tape to shroud and scribe, then cut.
*A box cutter works pretty well when shroud is warm.
*Jack vehicle on one side and remove air baffle (Z06)...3 10mm and 3 7mm bolts.
*Slide Scoop from underneath and install.
*I have my trusty craftman mini wrench holding the bottom nuts while I snug the bolt from the top. The nuts are nylon threaded and it will NOT come loose.

That's it.

Go out and romp on it

Thanks,
Carlos
