Default Weird sequence when starting C6 (software, diagnostic?)

Yesterday, I noticed that when I start my 2005, the entire cluster lights up, and the speedo goes to 20, then 60, then 100. Also, the DIC displays something like "Soft:7.2" and "EEPROM: (some number here)"

My question is: what is it doing, and how do I get it to stop?

No changes to the car like changing the battery or anything. Help!

Battery was changed about 6 months ago, with an Optima. It starts very quickly, so I doubt it's any battery issues (??)

I have an 06 and it seems to happen if I keep my foot on the brake and push the button to turn the engine off. Myabe that is my imagination but it doesn't seem to hurt anything. Mine doesn't do it and after turning it off again, though. Hope this helps.

Sometimes disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to let the car reboot eliminates these electronic gremlins.

Will try disconnecting the battery tonight.
Anyone experience this? I assume it is somehow in a diagnostic mode, displaying the versions of software (??)

I have never seen this or run across it on the forum.

Saturday, I tried to start the 06 Coupe and when I pressed the START button, the entire IPC went BLANK/DARK (except the CEL light) When I let off the switch, after approx 4-5 sec, the IPC came back to life as normal. Pressed start again, and the same thing. No start, NO IPC, NO Nothing. Battery is brand new and read 12.3 VDC. Connection were tight. Long story short, it wound up being a bad START SWITCH. I had a new one on hand because the face of mine is cracked and the green start light does not always light when it should.

Heres a link to my post with pictures:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...art-issue.html

Not saying its the switch but, theres a good possibility it may be if the start sequence is having issues. When I popped out the lower panel and the upper IPC trim, the IPC tried to cut out. Once the new switch was installed, everything worked flawlessly and the lights on my start switch work properly now.

Update: disconnecting the battery did not solve it.

Sounds like you need an electronic diagnosis and maybe some re-programming.

agreed

I work for the dealer and have never seen this or have had it happen on my own vette which is a 05 also. It may be just the cluster itself, but it maybe something else going on.

Thanks for the replies guys. Car is likely going to the dealer for the steering column recall, so I will have them look at it.

I would be interested to know the problem since mine does it occasionally.

Well, after not driving the car for a few days, I started it up this morning... and the problem has apparently gone away. Didn't do anything other than letting it sit there for a few days.
