When driving in D and then shifting to S-mode, shouldn't the DIC display the gear at the time of the shift? Do you have to hit the paddles to find out what gear you're in with a possible gear change occurring? Nothing in the manual on this and Two Chevy dealers said that they would research same and get back to me. I'm still waiting.
If in fact the DIC does not display the gear at the time of the shift and you have to hit a paddle, can the system be modified or reprogrammed to display same at the time of shift from D to S-mode without having to hit a paddle?
I can't speak to the 2010, but on my 07, it will not display the gear in the DIC until you manually change it while in S mode. After that it will display all the time. If you use your buttons to display something else in the DIC, such as oil temperature, the DIC will again display the shift indicators next time you shift. It is quite annoying sometimes in the way it works but I guess they were trying to please the largest subset of buyers.
When I put my 08 a6 in s mode the trans shifts on its own just like in d mode until I activate the paddle then the trans stays in the gear I choose and shows what gear I am in.
