Default MAF help

I have a 2003 GMC Serria 2500 PU with the 6.0l V8. It has started throwing the P0101 code. I talked with a GM mech and he suggested cleaning the wires inside the MAF, so I pulled the air tube off this afternoon, and they looked so clean that I did not even touch them for fear of damaging them.
Anyone have other suggestions what could be the cause of this? The CEL comes and goes, but leaves the P0101. The truck seems to be running fine. The idle may be a little low, but that would be the only complaint.

Thanks.

Clean the MAF anyway with electrical or brake cleaner. Also if your truck is a drive-by-wire then clean the throttle body bore with carb cleaner and a rag.

My 2005 Silverado 2500HD was throwing MAF error, I don't remember the code. I took it to the dealer three times and they couldn't figure it out. One day doing some poking around I noticed my EVAP quick connect wasn't snug. I got new quick connect connectors and hose to replace the EVAP hose and it has been good ever since. I didn't replace with OEM, if the original was bad why replace it with another bad one.

I would spray the MAF first, use electronics cleaner, quick and easy.
