Default First Time at Track!

Last weekend me and my friend John took his 2006 Z51 6 speed to the local track at Rock Falls Raceway in Eau Claire Wisconsin. It was both our first time at the track, let alone racing.

His car is slightly modified with a Vararam intake, American Racing 1'7/8 headers with high flow cats, x pipe and corsa Extreme exhaust with a tune done by Doug Rippie Motorsports. The car made 382 rwhp and 379rwtq! We are both very pleased with the work that DRM did and we thank them for their service. I wish I had a pic of the dyno sheet but my friend took that with him. Here is the dyno vid.

Track conditions were very poor with high humidity and thunderstorms in the forecast. Temp was around 70 to 75 and foggy. Racing stopped on more than one occasion to "torch" the track as it was very damp and slippery.

My friends best time of the day was 13.00 @ 115.53 I was actually very happy with his performance seemings he has never really driven a stick untill he got his vette a year ago.
Here is his best run.

Traction was a huge issue. When it was my turn to take a go at it, my best run of the day was a 12.419 at 117.14. I Launched very easily at 2000 rpms which resulted in wheelspin untill about 2500 rpms when she finnaly hooked up. I was then able to floor it and when I hit second gear massive wheelspin and wheel hop fallowed, nearly all the way through 2nd gear fallowed by slight wheelspin when hitting 3rd. So all in all I was pretty happy with the car and the times considering the track was in terible shape.
I just cant wait till the track conditions are better, Im looking forward to beeting my best! Here is a vid of my best run, along with another. My time slips are in the description of each video.

Not bad at all for the first time out and under some tough conditions too. It sounds like you had fun.

One word of caution. At the first sign of wheel hop, just back off and abort the run. The car will live to make another pass and you just learned where the limits are.

Enjoy the experience.

Yeah After the first couple passes I thought it would be smart to let off the throttle when I shifted to second.... Specially seemings it was not my car lol.
