Default Need help with driver's door

Guys,

The driver's door on my car is begining to sag real bad. It doesn't close smooth anymore and you can clearly hear and see the door latch hitting the lock on the doorjamb. How can I adjust the door to bring it back up? Are the hinges worn out?
Thanks

Rick

The hinges are adjustable and you can get to them without taking anything apart. IIRC the bolts that hold the door to the hinge are for tilt in and out and the bolts between the hinges and the rest of the car are for forward and back which would also tilt the entire door up and down if you were to adjust the upper and lower differently. However I found while adjusting mine in and out that there was some up and down play there as well. The bolts are smaller than the slots so sometimes more than one direction of adjustment is available where the shop manual only calls for one. It should go without saying to take your time, don't slam the door shut incase you went to far (don't want to possibly damage the paint), and I'd also recommend wrapping all the edges with blue painter's tape before you start anything just for a little extra protection. It took me a few hours but I got my doors lined up perfectly. The way they came from the factory was pretty bad.

Thanks a lot Marc. I'll mess with the bolts this weekend and see how it turns out.

Once again, thanks!
