Default warranty friendly performance upgrades?

I have a 2009 6.2 v8 LS3. What upgrades can I do to increase HP with out voiding the factory powertrain warranty? Thanks for any help.

I think that any GM accessory installed by a dealer will not void the warranty, so I would think something like the GM cam or the GM performance exhaust (I think it's a Corsa exhaust) would not void the factory warranty.

I'm not 100% sure on the above but it would make sense.

You would want to talk with your dealer, it will be up to them as to what they will cover above a cat-back exhaust which will gain very little.

I've had two different dealers do minor warranty work and I questioned the coverage before I told them who I was. I informed them of my mods (Z06 manifolds to tips, Vararam, tune) and they said "no problem".

I think each dealer has their own policy, so it pays to ask first. Be honest and upfront and especially anonymous until reaching a decision.

GM's official position on this is nothing. If an aftermarket modification contributed to the failure than they can deny the warranty claim.

Generally, you're okay with doing a air intake system or any exhaust work after the cats.

A tune will definitely void your powertrain warranty. GM has posted bulletins stating specifically that.

When you say warranty, you mean powertrain warranty correct?

The DEALER has no say on whats covered by Warranty, the Warranty is by GM and the GM Rep is the only one to decide if a repair is Warranty or not. The Dealer may try to turn it in as a Warranty repair but if GM says no the Dealer has to eat it.

Even the GM cam could give you warranty issues. It is intended for off road use on non-emission controlled cars and requires computer prggramming to make it run correctly. That tune alone will void your powertrain coverage.

I would not change anything if you are worried about the warranty.

Wait until you have an engine failure and then they will care significantly more.

Or GM simply requests the CVN's and other usefull info off the Tech II prior to any repairs on the car and leaves the rep out of it.

GM requires the CVN's on any/all V8 failures.

thanks for all the replies, just getting a chance to check it now. Talked to my dealer and a procharger will definitely void the powertrain, they said I can get a cold air intake though and that will keep the powertrain in tact. So much for a 200hp boost.
