SICMSP Z06 bumper - upper moulding?!?

SICMSP Z06 bumper - upper moulding?!?
Did any of you "SIC guys" manage to install the OEM Z06 upper moulding in David´s bumper? That is after painting! 
I had the bumper painted and installed with the race mesh last year and wanted to go OEM Z06 grills now. The big Z06 grill goes in ok while the Z06 upper moulding cannot be installed as the opening in the bumper is not quite big enough on the left side or has a slightly different shape.
I already shaved material off the moulding and finally ended up cutting the part in pieces to be more flexible - yet doesn´t go in. I may try heaten up the moulding on one edge with a heat gun to get it fit but it´s more likely I will disfigure the part completely.
It wouldn´t have been an issue if the moulding was pre-fit before painting but that didn´t happen (different story). Now, I am not going to get the front painted again just to get that plastic piece in...
Just wondered if anybody experienced the same thing and if there was a quick fix?
