As the titile says, I sometimes get my shifter stuck when shifting to 3rd. It only happens when I'm shifting "fast" at or above around 6000 RPM. Sometimes the shifter seems to "bounce" off a wall, sometimes it actually gets stuck! Stuck, meaning it appears to be in gear, but there is no engagement (clutch out, not in gear). I need to physically pull the shifter back into neutral, then go back into 3rd. Even when I am successful at getting it into gear, I really need to force it in. I have no problems doing a full throttle shift around 4000-5000 RPM, nor do I have a problem if I am shifting "slowly" at 6000 RPM.
I'm thinking it's a shifter/rubber grommet problem (I have a stock shifter), but was wondering what could cause it to get stuck or if it somehow a linkage problem.
Also, does anyone know if the MGW shifter comes with solid mounts like the B&M shifter?
Most likely what you are having problems with is the hydraulic slave cylinder not doing the job you are wanting it to do. (full disengage the clutch and do it FAST) there is a lot of people having that problem. first off try flushing you clutch fluid, that helps some. a permanent fix would be an adjustable slave.
But this part not working correctly and you forcing it can where on the carbon syncro's and if you are forcing it past that you are slamming you slider assembly itself to the gear. there's teeth can wear and cause problems as well. most of the time this is not a problem until someone has beat on the car for awhile either doing power shifts with bad timing or with a slave cylinder working against them.
if you are having the car get stuck IN gear, that's most likely from a bent shift fork. and you are over shifting the gear cause it to get stuck in there. this can get worse and i have seen them never come back out of gears before (f-body's where very common for this to happen in forth gear, cause people slamming 3rd and bending the shift fork on way then when they shift to 4th it went WAY past the keys and over shifted it

If it were my car, I would check the simple things first like:
- Torque tube mounting bolts. Are they torqued down?
- Shifter Rod to box bolt. Is it torqued down?
- Rubber bushings. No missing pieces.
- Lower mounting slot/pad. Is the plastic pad in place?
- Alignment. Does the pin go in to the hole in neutral?
- Shifter box mounts. These are under the mounting bolts. Are they straight and not bent?

100% correct.
I would also recommend changing your tranny fluid now that you have been forcing the tranny in gear. The fluid will most likely be dark!

To the OP, did you get this resolved? I'm have similar problems with my Z06.
Check the shifter box to torque tube mounting bushings. Yours will be RUBBER and if worn or destroyed,,, that could well be your issue. This is my 02 ZO6. Yours will be identical but have rubber bushings vise aluminum ones like mine:
Also make sure that the cinch joint that connects the box to the shift rod is tight and secure. I greased my shift box when I had it apart and it made a little improvement in ease of shifter movement.
