beefy cam ?'s
What cam or cams are most people running for good hp number gains? I would like a pretty aggresive sounding cam, also i have read that some people have lost timing chains due to additional stress after cam install, is this something i should be worried about happening to my car?
how hard is the install? how much is a good kit? how many wheel hp would i expect from this mod alone? thanks

if i was going to buy a new one, use the c5r chain.
did a NICE set of springs and retainers, and push rods too.
car made 374rwhp
did the underrive pully, VRX5 cam, springs, retainers, push rods, and a blackwing intake.
car made 436rwhp. same dyno.
so it picked up 62rwhp. I did it myself, with the help of a friend.
cam was 300, springs where 250, push rods 100, pully 200.

i did a large cam on an ls1 when it had 42k on it and the car is still racing everyday with 132k on it. timeing chains dont break often, and normally its a failer of the chain itself, not becasue more where and tear. also using the stock one, its all ready streaked the most it is going to. just depends on milage to me.

You will need to change valve springs, seats and seal depending on which spring kit you get... or not at all if you go with PAC springs
You will need new pushrods as well.
The timing chain is a good idea, some people just get a stronger chain, others go with a whole new timing set and even a double roller for protection....
Oil pump is for insurance and since you are right there it gets done more often than not. We use the Melling HV pump and double roller timing sets, you have to clearance things to make it work.
(the two above things OP and TC are about $265 for the Melling HV and an N-motion double roller timing set. Cheap money when you consider what could happen if either of those failed. But it does add costs.
Install isn't that hard but you need the proper tools and a clean works space..
