Default Weird issues with my 2008

Last week, only in the mornings, my service traction control and active handling lights were coming on after driving 20 minutes or so. About 5 minutes after this happened, the AC would shut off for a couple minutes and then come back on line. This only happened in the mornings. The drive home in the evenings resulted in no problems...until last night. 5 miles from my house, the service traction control and active handling lights came on, but the AC continued to blow cold. Then, just 300 yards from my house, the service engine light came on! Power was reduced, paddle shifters inactive, so I limped it through the neighborhood to the driveway. Last weekend, I had the battery tested, as the voltage was erratic when the service lights came on and AC would shut down. Battery tested fine. I have had weird issues before in other Corvettes and it was the battery that was dying. Not so this time.
I am going to grab a ODBII tester today and see if I can find out why the check engine light came on. Has anyone else had anything similar to this happen to their Corvette? My Corvette is currently my DD, as my 944's AC is not working (live in South Florida) and I can't drive my Monte Carlo SS, as it lives on drag radials on the rear all year round (we are in the rainy season). Any insight any of you have would be great! After I get the Corvette running right, then it is time for its 5th windshield to be replaced. Last week, a bolt came up off the road and put a nice round crack in the passenger side of the window. I am just not having luck with my cars right now.

Maybe its a Florida thing. Last night, I went up to Ft. Laud. and when I started the car to return home - active handling, traction control and engine light indicators came on. Engine acted as though only seven cylinders being fed. Previously, I had the engine light and a/c compressor didn't want to come on. Both those problems were temporary and everything was fine before I started my trip last night. I had to nurse that puppy about 25 miles to get home. Oil pressure was fine. Voltage was fine. Gas mileage was significantly reduced going home.
FYI, I have a 2009 Z with less than 1700 miles. Looks like a visit to the dealer on Monday morning for me.
Please post your findings.

My oil pressure, voltage, oil temp, coolant temp was all fine. My oil pressure runs a little lower than factory, as I have a 418 stroker under the hood. I have just over 40,000 miles on my Vette, the stroker has resided under the hood for over 25,000 of those miles with no issues. I am going to pick up a ODBII tool this afternoon to try to diagnos the issue.

Hooked up the code reader and found that the car lost contact with the CAN module and body module. Reset the codes and will see if it comes back.

Have you had the TSB/Recall repair done for the Active Handling System?

It involves replacing a clip in the steering column connector.

The car going into 'limp mode' once a problem with the system is detected is not unusual. Worst case, the car can react to incorrect info due to the above connector failure and intervene in a dangerous way.

I have no idea why the AC is acting up, sorry.

Thanks to both of you. I didn't know about the "limp mode". That actually makes me feel better because it lessens the number of problems. I was more concerned about the engine being down on power than the AHS. Hopefully I'll get that clip installed on Monday and be done with the problems.

Well, on my way into work this morning the lights all lit up and reduced power. Towed into the Maroone in Delray Beach. They hope to have it diagnosed tomorrow. A bunch of computers are off line. They are tracing to find out which one is knocking the others off line. Test drove a 2SS Camaro. Nice car...if they give me enough for my 08, I may drive off with the Camaro.

I don't believe the recall is for the 2008. I was having my "service active handling" come on each morning after I first started it. If I pulled over and restarted the car, it would go away. After awhile it didn't go away and the dealer check and cleared the code. They told me that they could replace the steering module but I was heading to VIR and didn't have the time. It came on one more time on the way to VIR after hitting a bump but since then it has stayed off.

But, speaking of strange things on the 2008: I did the standing start mile run in Miami a few months ago and every time I went above 140mph my ABS light came on. Dealer has no idea but reset the code.

Then at VIR, on each run my ABS light would come on again. It would always shut off after restarting the car but it makes me worry if I had a high speed crash whether the air bag would work.

Quikzilver, I have been having what sounds to be the exact same problems with my 2005 vette for the past 2 years, been to dealership about 10 times, now trying to do research and fix it myself. Seems like it could be heat related, mine seems to happen only when it is very hot outside. Reset the battery for 10 minutes and everything will be fine sometimes for a day sometimes for 2 weeks. Don't be surprised to see the problems come back, and please let me know of any new information you find out, I will do the same.

Thanks Josh
