I have a red top and it isnt holding up. I was told it wouldnt when I bought it. Does anyone know the model yellow top that would fit our cars most importantly in the rear compartment with battery relocations? It needs to be on the smaller side of what fits since I sometimes run it in the rear compartment.
I must use a gell cell because the battery at times goes in the rear. Please dont post up about batteries that cant go in the back compartment.
EDIT: The D35 appears to be the yellow top or red top that fits the rear best. At this point the yellow top has performed awesome with the high load I have on it (Parallel fuel system, meth kit, ect) at WOT.

Optima 8040-218 D35 Yellow Top. Bought mine through Amazon. Their shipping package is questionable which resulted in me ending up with two yellow tops because the first one I received was damaged at the base but fully functional, the second one I received was in perfect condition.

Optima's website say's Red is the regular car battery and the Yellow is a Deep Cycle with 650 Cranking amps. Why wouldn't the Red be the right one to use?
Guys that run their cooling fans between rounds at the drag strip often change to the Yellow Top, deep cycle battery because you can discharge it farther without damage.
The D35 is the correct size for either Red or Yellow Top.
However a larger D34 Yellow Top will also fit but you have to turn it around because the terminals are reversed from the GM OEM.
1st Optima Batteries .com has a great chart showing sizes, cranking amps, terminal locations, prices, etc.
If you want to spend even more money check out Odyssey Batteries, PC 1500 RT ($250+).

Here you go, Spin: SC34DU is Optima Yellow for rear mount. I got mine from Hinson Supercars (Forum vendor). Some time ago, you posted the part number from JEGS, I believe, for the rear mount cable kit. I can't find the thread that contains it. Once again please? TIA
Its about a year old. My voltage is under 12 volts every time i start my car. While this can be the charging system, I doubt it. I have a yellow top in my hummer and will try that out for a week. If that works I will get the red top replaced under warranty and sell it for a yellow top. I dont remember if I got it from Jegs or Summit. I dont have the receipt either. Lucky me.
Somewhere along the line this thread deteriorated into a 'saving weight' thing which it isnt. I dont want a brail battery nor am I looking for one that cant be mounted in the rear. I want the durability of a real battery that will go for 4-5 years like the stock one did. It has to be a gell cell and no lead acids please.

I will swap with the hummer and see how it goes.
Hey Spin, I have 3 red top optimas in 3 different cars. They have not been the best batteries I have used . [ they love to discharge when the car isn't driven daily ] . While I haven't tried one yet, I read some independent reviews and the sears die hard [ the premium one ] got excellent ratings, great bang for the buck. I will probably try one this fall.

Who sells them cheap?
35 will fit in the back, but it is not vented. I sent you a PM.
I brought my redtop that was in my RX7 to advance autoparts and they gave me a huge credit (battery was dead and salesman was a corvette owner) towards my Yellow top i put in the vette..

I read the various reviews of yellow vs. red tops and decided to gamble on the Sears Diehard Platinum for my 05. Cost was around $200 and it has been perfect so far. Sometimes I don't drive it for 2 weeks and the battery has not given the slightest hint of weakness so far. I don't use a trickle charger.

I looked at the Optima but according to their specs they are not the exact dimensions for my 07 Vette, they are taller, could cause interference with changing the cabin filter.
I looked up the Sears Platinum as well, they don't have a battery listed for the 07. Any suggestions?
