Default Difference between 06,07 and 08 Z06

I am sure this has been discussed before but I am not the best with the search tool. Point me to a link if this has been hashed over and over....

I am looking to buy an 08 Z06 but if I look at 06 and 07 along with the 08 Z06 there are many more to chose from.

What are the MAJOR differences between the year models and what should I be aware of with certain year models.

I have been told that the 08 Z06 has an upgraded transmission, is this correct?

Thanks,
John

Yes on the transmission.

The major changes were:

T6060 transmission in place of the previous T56

Improved steering feel via improved machining and tolerances of the rack.

Hydrocarbon center console finish

Thanks for the reply. I have been looking only at 08 Z06's due to the transmission upgrade BUT have located a very nice low milage 06 Z06 at a good price. I was just steering away from the earlier Z06's thinking there were more issues.

I guess there would be no warrenty left on an 06.

thanks again.

If the seller of this 06 Z06 has an extended warranty, such as the GMPP, it can be transferred to you for something like $50. I just bought my 06Z and the paperwork is in the works right now to have the GMPP transferred to me. Just a thought... see if he's got that warranty!

Yep, the difference is "steers and gears". Also, slightly more insulation (cabin) was added for 2008.

Now, whether you want to call the TR-6060 an "upgrade" over the T-56 is up to you. Your call.

Too bad they have the time limit. If it was just a strait up 100K warranty it would be a lifetime warranty for many a vette owner

If I recall correctly:

steering improvements
Dry oil sump system
TR6060 which is rated for 600LB ft of torque continous use- TR56 rated for 460LB ft of torque
TR6060 is suppose to be a big improvement especially if you plan on modding the car.
