Default adding npp muflers

Ok, been looking around and reading alot of different ways to do this. I have an 05 coupe. I do not care about the rpm controlled acutation. My question is what do i need to make it work? Run vacuum line to the brake booster with a check valve and a 12v electric soilenoid inline? How does it need to be plumbed? The butterflies open when vacuum is lost? Do i need a 3 position soilenoid?

Thanks,

Ryan

This is what I did with my 05 C6. Purchased "NPP in a box" and ran the vacuum line from the pump to the mufflers. The pump fits inside one of the storage wells in the back of the car under the hatch. Ran the electric wire from the pump to the fuse box in the floor of the passenger side of the cabin. Everything is included in the kit. If I can do it, anyone can.

yeah i don't want to buy the kit, i'm not worried about having wireless control. I'm wondering what i need to have. I've heard a 12v vacuum solenoid and a checkvalve in line to the brake booster?

Engine vacuum CLOSES the inner pipes on the exhaust. If you want to run the exhaust open all the time don't run the vacuum line.

If you want to control the inner pipes you have to run the vacuum line and supply some way of interupting the vacuum to run the inner pipes open.

What he said. The ability to go from quiet to loud at will is something I really enjoy. NPP in a box for me.

Why waste your time on some makeshift. NPP in the box is the way to go. Cost is about $180 probably around $60 or less to install. NPP in the box comes with two remote controllers.....open and close at will. Without the set up you mentioned above the valves would remain open at all times. It sounds like you wanted the mufflers to work like the C6 Z06....open at a certain RPM.

i just don't care about the remote control. i remember reading where a guy used a check valve and a 12v vacuum solenoid and hooked it to a switch inside. Why spend 180 when i could spend $25?

Why buy NPPs when the Z06 mufflers are cheaper?

I am in the opposite situation. I have a corsa touring sysem that I just took off my car because with the long tube headers its to loud for me. My corsa system is mint!!! never seen rain and it looks like I just took it out of the box. Sad to say I am probably the most compulsive person when it comes to keeping my car prestine. I would be willing to trade..

I just had the NPP installed on my 09, the installer told me I needed a vacuum pump (extra$$) to complete the install since my car was a non oem NPP setup. Some people say you don't but they convinced me that I did but end the end it was worth it.

I hear what you are saying, but the NPP in a box is the way to go in my opinion. Since you have an 05, you can program the buttons on your visor to control the system so you won't have to mess around with the remotes. That's what I did. The system works great!!!

Default Npp

Z06 mufflers, NPP in a box programed to the Home Link. Easy to do and works great on my '05.

Are you looking to have the actual NPP (meaning functioning NPP)???? Your question and responses to questions lead me to think your only looking for another sound.....and do NOT wish to have any control over the NPP???? Correct???

Yeah....works great on your '05....but in '08 and later Homelink changed to some new system.....my problem is the new system is NOT compatible with my gate, garage or Z06 exhaust controller. Sucks can't use Homelink in my ('10) Z06....it works in my '04 Yukon though....

You still need the npp in a box if you want to use the valves.

If you want it open/loud all the time then you just need to install the mufflers, Be aware there is still a drone at cruising speed, so the quite option is the way to go, it is nice to be able to carry on a conversation without saying WHAT all the time.

You don't have to have the NPP in a box to use the valves. Powerlabs did a nice how-to for Z06 mufflers on his LS2 MN6 C6.
