Buy the complete header kit and it will bolt right up.

I didn't even know Bassani made a header for the C6. Probably not a hot item.

Most headers come with a matching X pipe that extends from the header collector to just in front of the rear axle where they slip onto the over-axle muffler pipe. OEM C6 Corvette come with 2 1/2" pipes and Z06/ZR! come with 3" pipes, therfore a C6 takes a 2 1/2" X pipe and a Z06/ZR1 takes a 3" X pipe assembly.

I have not worked with Bassani, but if they fit your OEM exhaust pipes, they should also be 2 1/2". You may need to get under there and measure them before you order your headers. Some folks purposely adapt 3" exhaust hoping to improve the flow.

You will also need to decide if you want catalytic converters or not. I would recommend you get them. Aftermarket Hi-flow cats only cost about 2 HP at redline RPM and they prevent the cockpit fuel smell as well as helping pass emissions at a later date. They will come as part of your new X pipe.

I would also recommend you shop around for your headers. American Racing, Kooks, and LG all make a quality stainless steel C6 header. Maryland Speed has a good price on Kooks, Carlos at Vette Air has a great price on American Racing, and you will need to research who has the best deal on LG.

KOOKS has the 3" x-pipe that reduces to 2-1/2" at the over the axle pipes.

i love the bassani sound and not many have them either. but the muffler is in the middle of the car with its own integrated x-pipe in the muffler.there are no exhaust cans at the back of the car (not visible from behind),thats another reason bassani is nice, all you see is big 4" tips coming out the back of the car. but my concern is how i tie the headers into the bassani muffler?

I got my Kooks from Maryland Speed. Excellent price (best I found through my research). The guy there that I talked to was extremely knowledgeable. I would be amazed if he doesn't know exactly what you need.

And no, this is not a paid endorsement. lol

Unless I'm crazy the Bassani system you haven't can't be a 3" system, your stock piping coming off your manifolds is 2.5", so your bassani system would have to be 2.5" at the connecting points at least to the header.

FYI most header makers make the mid pipe 3" and have it kneck down to 2.5" at the over the axle connector, are you saying your bassani system doesn't break down that way? I highly doubt it's welded to the xpipe, that would be crazy.

no, the bassani has one big muffler in the center of the car and it is supposed to have an x-pipe built into the muffler system (inside the muffler)

Most headers and their associated mid pipes will present a problem with your Bassani system if it's the type that uses the muffler/x-pipe combination under the tunnel. I believe B&B makes headers that will bolt directly to your existing muffler/x-pipe arrangement. I know they will bolt directly to Magnaflow mid pipes and stock h-pipes. Suggest you contact B&B as this may be an option that allows you to keep your Bassani system in place
